Cleanup Adoption

[edit]

This page has been listed for cleanup by the WP Australia Project. This is to note i'll be taking this on and will be bringing the page into line with the standards for Biographies on WP within the next few days. Please leave any questions or input here on the reformat. thewinchester 14:19, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found this article listed in the WP Australia Project to-do list, it was marked as needing verification sources. I have been able to verify the vast majority of the article, but there are still some sentences missing, namely in the section on Takeover and consolidation of ANA 1957-1969. Can anybody help with verification on that section? Paulie highfly (talk) 05:31, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Move

[edit]

I moved the Reg Ansett article to the Sir Reginald Miles Ansett name, as the last page name was not respectful. The page name used slang (Reg). --Ansett 03:51, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reg is not slang, it is the accepted short version of Reginald. It's not clear how using it is disrespectful, when the man referred to himself as Reg. Is his middle name Miles or Myles? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.26.122.12 (talk) 02:34, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kendell

[edit]

There is an article on Kendell that might have some relevance to this article if someone wants to check it out. --Randolph 17:03, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Request for review

[edit]

The article appears to cover the subject well. It needs a significant copy edit. Some of the red links may have articles under different name ie Dept of Civil aviation. Class I gave as B as the article is useful for the average inquiry provides godd coverage of the topic. Suggest a copy edit and then take it to peer review. Importance scale I gave as High though I think its borderline Mid, based that his article would be a link from the businesses, to be top it would need to be the other way round Gnangarra 10:38, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move back to Reg Ansett

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the debate was move. —Khoikhoi 00:22, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Common practice on wikipedia is to use common names. As such I will be moving the page back to Reg Ansett unless someone can explain why it should stay as it is. Stating "Reg is slang" is not a reason to not follow common practice, we have articles for Bob Carr and Bob Hawke. Garrie 23:27, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Would you care to add a supporting arguement to that opinion? Garrie 04:21, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There are some issues around moving the page back to it's previous name. I have submitted an entry on Wikipedia:Requested moves#22 August 2006.Garrie 04:34, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the debate. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Rating

[edit]

I have left comments regarding the rating. User:Gnangarra, could you explain how it is B-Class not Start class (I would have put it as Start pending cleanup).Garrie 22:18, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Previous marriage

[edit]

Sir Reginald's two sons were from his first marriage, to Grace Nichol, which is not noted on this page. I don't know the year or date, which is why I haven't just edited it in myself, but if someone does, a couple of sentences noting his first marriage and divorce are probably quite relevant.

Fair use rationale for Image:Sir Reginald Ansett.jpg

[edit]

Image:Sir Reginald Ansett.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Nationality

[edit]

Wasn't Reg Ansett an Australian? So why is his nationality shown as "American"?Royalcourtier (talk) 01:52, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment comment

[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Reg Ansett/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

Class: Article has increased beyond being a stub or start class article but still has room for improvement (clarification of what should be on the Ansett Australia airline article, discussion of events leading up to his death, etc). It's rating as B-Class was by User:Gnangarra. It is currently rated as Class=B-Class. Importance: Ansett had significant input into the development of the Australian broadcasting and aviation industries, and his children also went on to become significant in the Australian business scene. As such it is rated as Importance=High. Garrie 22:16, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
